Your first product demo in five minutes
From a fresh install to a finished video: record a take, let Zumi tidy it up and export it for the place it's going.
Most demo videos take an afternoon: record, re-record, scrub through a timeline, add zooms by hand, export, notice a mistake, export again. ZumCast is built so the first take is usually the one you keep. This walkthrough takes you from a fresh install to a finished video in about five minutes.
Before you start
You need a Mac on macOS 14 Sonoma or later and about 2 GB of free disk space. Download ZumCast, drag it to Applications and open it.
The welcome tour asks for permissions. Only Screen Recording is required. The others make features better, and you can skip them for now:
| Permission | What it adds |
|---|---|
| Accessibility | Auto-zoom knows which button you clicked |
| Microphone | Your voice, and voice commands |
| Camera | Your face in a bubble or side by side |
| Speech Recognition | Captions and a transcript, made on your Mac |
Tip: if you only have a minute, take the tour's three quick wins: Take a shot, Record 5 seconds and Ask Zumi.
Record one take
- Press ⌃⇧H from any app to open the HUD.
- Pick what to record: 1 display, 2 window, 3 area or 4 iPhone.
- Press Return and do the demo the way you normally would. Don't worry about pauses or a wrong click.
- Press ⌃⇧R to stop.
The Studio opens with zooms, a smooth cursor and scenes already made from what you did on screen.
Let Zumi do the tidying
Instead of editing by hand, tell Zumi what you want in plain words, for example:
cut the pauses and make it vertical
Zumi shows its plan first; press Apply when it looks right. Read more about what Zumi can do in the Zumi guide.
Export for where it's going
Press ⌘E and pick where it's going. There are presets for YouTube, LinkedIn, Shorts and more, so you don't have to remember sizes. The Export guide covers GIFs, captions and step-by-step guides too.
ZumCast Basic is free with no time limit. Its exports carry a small "Made with ZumCast" mark, and Pro, a one-time purchase, removes it. See pricing for the details.
